Xi'an (西安)

There's only one real reason to go to Xián and that's to see the Terracotta warriors.  There are 3 halls of them.  The first one is huge and is still being excavated.  This is where they are all lined up in marching order.  It really gives you an idea of the scale of the army.  The second, which is expected to contain even more than the first when it is finally, properly, excavated shows them in a less than perfect state of repair.  For example many are without heads.  Finally, the third hall shows some mint condition ones and is more like a museum.
The city is a fairly standard China giant.  The old city walls are huge and can be cycled around (for a fee).  There are a few nice temples and an interesting street market selling all manner of tourist tat and Chinese art.
