Galle is an old colonial town on the South coast of Sri Lanka. The old part of the town (the fort) is also the Muslim quarter: Handy when visiting during Ramadan. Surrounding this part of town is a complete wall, which makes for a lovely evening stroll as the sun goes down over the Indian Ocean.
There is also a lighthouse, which is quite picturesque. I also have to say that it is probably one of the nicest places to watch Test Match cricket imaginable. Although it's entire economy seems to be based around tourism it like the rest of Sri Lanka, is not really overly geared up for it and this is a pleasant change.
The fort area has many charming old buildings and churches.
Regular readers will know how much I do like an interesting door and Galle does not disappoint in that respect either.
Finally, a short tuk-tuk ride along the coast are some of the finest beaches you will find outside of Northumberland, although these are probably a bit warmer especially for swimming. They are just stunning!
This will be a blog about my latest shots and what I liked or was trying to do with them
